What is Boat Owners Insurance?

By Insurance Blog
April 20, 2014

Boat Owners Insurance is a contract between you and your Insurance Company. It can provide coverage for your boat and boat equipment such as anchors, life preservers, dinghies, etc. It can also provide you with liability protection, should you injure someone with your boat or damage their property. In exchange for your premium payment, your Insurance Company agrees to pay losses as defined in your policy.

What coverages are available in a Boat Owners Insurance policy?

Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability

Liability insurance pays for covered damages if you cause an accident, damage someone’s property, or injure someone. Liability insurance can also provide legal defense if you’re sued as a result of a covered loss.

    • Fire
    • Theft
    • Collision
    • Sinking
    • Damage from storms

Additional Coverages

Can include Wreck Removal, Pollution Liability, Uninsured/Underinsured Boater, and coverage for newly acquired watercraft.
