The CA DOI order dated March 18, 2020, which required insurance companies to return partial insurance premiums to consumers for March 19 through April 30, now includes the month of May. We will be crediting each CA policyholders personal auto account with 5% of their earned premium for the period between March 19, 2020 through May 31, 2020. Customers can expect to start receiving credits in the upcoming weeks. Customers must have an active GIA personal auto policy at the time to receive the credit.
Insurers are encouraged to work with their individual policyholders who have been acutely impacted by COVID-19 and are still unable to timely pay their premiums. Our commitment to serving our customers has never been stronger and we’ll continue to do our part to help everyone get through this difficult time. If a customer needs assistance due to financial hardship, please contact our customer service unit at 800-247-2643 to determine how we can best assist them. GIA does not charge late and/or reinstatement fees.
